Product Information

The elements can be arranged in any order.

Each of the elements is secured with anti-slip points, which allows for safe play and even jumping.

The elements of Sensory Stepping Stones are hexagonal wooden tiles. Each of them contains a filling consisting of natural materials embedded in the resin, which ensures safety and durability of the product.

Each of the elements gives a different sensory impression, starting from smooth glitter through convex glass balls, coarse barley groats, hard Himalayan salt to pebbles that stimulate muscles of the feet.

Walking on Sensory Stepping Stones enables:

✓ Tactile differentiation (determining the texture: smooth, slippery, hard, prickly, and adapting to it in a controlled manner); it is very important for both sensory seekers and children who are hypersensitive to touch.

✓ Development of equilibrium reactions that later affect school skills, e.g. reading.

✓ Receiving proprioceptive stimuli that allow the child to calm down. Deep feeling also contributes to the relaxation of the Achilles tendon, which is often excessively tense in children who walk on their toes.

✓ Strengthening muscles of the feet. Especially children with flat feet, who often have orthopaedic shoes/insoles that they have to wear for many hours a day, should walk barefoot on a variety of surfaces. Only mobilizing the metatarsal muscles to work allows the foot to be properly arched. Receiving strong stimuli forces adequate muscle responses from the brain. Especially walking on elements containing glass balls, Himalayan salt and pebbles will make the muscle and ligament structures more flexible and strengthened.

✓ Desensitizin✓ Building spatial awareness. Playing on Sensory Stepping Stones is an attractive method to practice directions (left-right, forward-back).

✓ Desensitizing the oral zone. Especially children who have a very selective diet should use Sensory Stepping Stones. Tactile desensitization is commenced from the farthest part of the body. At the same time, through the fascia band, foot stimulation reduces the excitability of the sensory receptors in the facial area.

✓ By stimulating the feet, we influence the child’s speech development. The sensory receptors of the feet and hands are represented in the sensory cortex of the brain close to the centres responsible for speech.

The obstacle course is indispensable in the sensory integration room, but it is also an ideal base for parent-child games at home. It works well with children with hypersensitivity and under responsivity of the sensory system.

Used systematically, it will help develop motor skills, eye-hand-leg coordination and spatial awareness. The child should identify which elements are pleasant to him/her and which are irritating. During work, we start with the pleasant, accepted elements, gradually introducing more difficult tasks.
